about

This recording is a typical example of how EMPOOL ran its business; chaotic, free improvisation using effects pedals with little regard to common tonality, rhythm, linear thought or conventional form.

One never knew exactly who, of the various potential band members, might be involved at any given session, as these 'emplic moments' in time were rarely scheduled.

This CD can be purchased as a package in conjunction with FRANKIE'S GIRL, a short B&W comic horror film by Benjamin Miller, edited by Laurence Miller, and produced by Empool © 1994 ℗ 2020

'STERS is a reference to Ann Arbor's Destroy All Monsters, as a nick name used by it's band mates. (Laurence and Benjamin were both active members of D.A.M. at that time.)

EMPOOL Ypsilanti, Michigan

Ann Arbor's EMPOOL, the pioneering band which merged into punk-art-noise rockers DESTROY ALL MONSTERS in the late 70's has reformed! Identical twins Laurence and Benjamin Miller perform to original soundtracks in a mix of quirk rock mayhem chock full of a dissonant frenetic wash of sound. FX pedals and art-psych-improv borders pure chaos with little regard for common tonality and rhythm. ... more
